Beyond “Normal”: Why Your Lab Results Might Not Mean You’re Healthy

Updated: Jul 28

Introducing Our New Optimal Lab Review Service

Have you ever looked at your lab results, seen that everything was marked “normal,” but still felt off? Maybe you're tired all the time, struggling with brain fog, low mood, unexplained weight changes, or just feeling like your body isn’t firing on all cylinders—but your doctor says, “Everything looks fine.”

Let me be the first to tell you: “normal” doesn’t always mean optimal—and it definitely doesn’t mean you’re thriving.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce a new service at our office: the Optimal Lab Review.

What Is an Optimal Lab Review?

This is not your typical five-minute lab explanation. I go through your existing bloodwork (the labs you’ve already had done) with a functional medicine lens—looking at your results through the lens of what’s optimal, not just what’s barely acceptable.

Instead of asking, “Is this person disease-free?” we ask:“Is this person functioning at their best?”

We look for patterns, trends, and underlying imbalances in things like:

  • Hormones

  • Inflammation markers (like homocysteine, CRP)

  • Vitamin and mineral levels (think: vitamin D, ferritin, B12)

  • Thyroid function

  • Blood sugar regulation

  • Liver and detox markers

Even if your labs came back “normal,” they may still be pointing to areas that could be causing your symptoms—and those are often overlooked in a standard care setting.

Why This Matters

Let’s say your vitamin D is technically “in range,” but barely scraping by. Or your ferritin (iron storage) is low enough to cause hair loss and fatigue—but not low enough to raise red flags on a standard lab review.

These kinds of “almost problems” are where I come in.

With the Optimal Lab Review, we:

  • Walk through your labs together, line by line

  • Identify areas that are sub-optimal or trending in the wrong direction

  • Connect the dots between your symptoms and what your labs are telling us

  • Provide actionable recommendations for supplements, diet, lifestyle, and more

Who Is This For?

This is perfect for you if:

  • You’ve had labs done recently and want a deeper explanation

  • You feel like your symptoms are being brushed off

  • You’re curious about functional medicine but not ready to dive into full testing yet

  • You want to take a more proactive approach to your health

My Approach

As a chiropractor and functional medicine provider, I’m not just checking boxes. I care about helping you heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually—because it’s all connected.

This review gives you clarity, education, and the next steps that make sense for your unique body.
